Hematite is a common iron oxide mineral that is usually found in the form of masses. It usually appears as silver to dark gray in color, and sometimes has reddish streaks caused by the iron oxide. Rainbow Hematite is an iridescent, multi-colored variety, which is caused by a thin coating of aluminum phosphate. While there is a natural version of Rainbow Hematite, it is very rare and not commonly found.
